Bourne Lions lift for SKDC supported homes
Local Lions buy special safety lift for people who have fallen down.
Thanks to £895 from Bourne & District Lions, South Kesteven District Council is the proud owner of a Mangar airlifting cushion. The Mangar cushion can safely lift people who have fallen down.
Lion Frank Reeves explained: "The Mangar aircushion can lift more than 40-stone. It is light, compact and easily transported. It enables safe, stress-free lifting of persons to a seated position following a fall."
Steve Cullington, SKDC supported housing manager, said: "We greatly appreciate this help from the Lions. They asked that the aircushion lift be held at our supported housing scheme at Meadow Close in Bourne. That's where we keep, but it is available for use at Manor Close, Stanton Close & Almond Court too."
He added: "Although a number of residents in supported housing may be a little unsteady, they don't often fall. But when they do, it is reassuring for them and support staff to know that the air lift cushion is available, providing it is safe to use it. It can also be used by members of the council's Helpline service. The Helpline service could bring you speedy assistance at the touch of a button."
