Frequently asked questions about our grab rails
Q. Do I need to earth metal grab rails in my bathroom?
A. Earthing a grab rail should not be necessary, however, care needs to be taken to ensure you do not contact pipe-work/electrical cabling when fixing them to the wall. This is the same care that should be taken when fixing your medicine cabinet or toothbrush holder. Metal pipe-work is earthed because it is connected to electrical systems (like your shower or thermostat). If there was a fault in one of these systems, all the pipe work could become live and result in an electrical shock. Grab rails are isolated from these systems by the wall. The only risk would occur if you contacted the pipe/cabling with a grab rail fixing. A competent tradesman should check there is no risk of this as a standard procedure.
Q. What is the grab rail made out of?
All our wall mounted grab rails are made out of stainless steel (including the screws). This makes them strong and durable, and the perfect option for use in the bathroom.
